This accessibility statement applies to the Scotland Excel Academy. We are committed to making our digital learning environment accessible and inclusive for all users. This includes meeting the requirements of the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) Accessibility Regulations 2018 and working towards full compliance with WCAG 2.1 AA standards.
Platform Compliance
Our Moodle platform (version 4.1) is partially compliant with WCAG 2.1 AA standards. Core features are designed to meet WCAG 2.1 AA criteria, and we continually review and improve our learning content to increase accessibility across the platform.
Non-Accessible Content
Some content may not yet meet accessibility requirements, for example:
· Bullet points without proper structure
· Older PDF documents not fully tagged for screen readers
· Third-party documents supplied by external providers
· Missing alternative text for complex images
· Legacy course materials created before accessibility auditing
· Videos that rely on auto-generated captions
How We Improve Accessibility
We use a combination of tools and internal processes to maintain and improve accessibility:
· Moodle’s built-in accessibility toolkit to audit course content
· Accessible templates for PowerPoint, Word, and PDF
· Captioning and transcripts for video materials
· Clear heading structures and consistent formatting
· Alternative text for images
· Checking colour contrast and readability
· Providing content in multiple formats where appropriate
· Reviewing accessibility regularly as part of our course development cycle
