Methodologies & Professional Body Accreditation

Methodologies

Our Learning Methodology
The Academy utilises a work-based-learning methodology delivering time-concise applied learning, allowing our learners to apply new knowledge to their work practice immediately - this provides a quick return for our learners, and their organisations.
We release some pre-work on The Academy before the taught face-face workshop and complement this with online discussion forums and video content. An applied project is the summative assessment for each accredited unit. This applied project is an opportunity for the learner to demonstrate how they are applying acquired knowledge to their work practice.
Our programmes and workshops are further complemented through The Academy delivering a series of practice workshopspractitioner workshops and thought leadership masterclasses.

Accreditations

We underpin the quality of our delivery through accreditations with professional bodies -

Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS)
Chartered Management Institute (CMI)
Chartered Manager Assessment Centre (CMI)
Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA)
Association for Project Management (APM)

How do I know what development I need?

The Scottish Government Development Framework

The procurement development framework identifies skills and competency levels required by staff involved in the procurement process. It helps people take ownership of their personal development through a skills assessment, identifying training and development needs and supporting career planning.

The framework is intended to complement, not replace, existing personal development tools in organisations.

Access the current Development Framework assessment tool.

National Framework and The Academy Disciplines
The Scottish Government operates a framework of training provision in Procurement delivery and development. You can find guidance on the Scottish Government Website here.
